My daughter and I are leaving this afternoon to stay at a friends house in Metro ATL, then bright and early Friday morning we are off to Dragon*Con!! I’m packing, and double-checking my list, scheduling a few last minute posts, and looking over my schedule for the weekend. We weren’t able to acquire a room at one of the host hotels, but we won’t be suffering during our stay in Atlanta. You might see me walking through the lobby of The Ritz Carlton.
I may or may not post photos from the Con while I’m gone, but you can be sure I’ll have a ton of photos to share when I’m home. (Also, Other Worlds will be published Sunday night as usual.) If I do share, it will probably be on Twitter @amandamakepeace.
I’ve upgraded from my paper itinerary to the DragonCon App. Awesome little App. I wish I’d downloaded it sooner. As you can see, our first upcoming even is, Who are you really? on Friday, August 31 at 11:30 a.m. The app allows you to see a listing of all the events, speakers and vendors at the convention and then add them to a personal schedule.
Here’s a few things we’ve added to our schedule of events, those with an asterisk are my daughters pick (two asterisks means we both chose the event):
Who are you really?* - A look at ideas about identity. What makes you ‘you’?
Pyr Rising - Pyr presents its up & coming writers and selections. (Speakers: Lou Anders, Philippa Ballantine, Jon Sprunk)
It’s the End of the World** – Post-apocalypse reading and zombies for the teen crowd. (Speakers: David Macinnis Gill, Jonathan Maberry, Mari Mancusi, Diana Peterfreund, C.J. Redwine)
Frightening Folklore – A look at the ways folklore is used in dark fantasy fiction. (Speakers: Leanna Renee Hieber, Alethea Kontis, Ted Naifeh, Chelsea Quinn Yarbro)
Hourly Writing Seminar 7: 101 Ideas in an Hour with Timothy Zahn
Losing Hope: The Walking Dead Q&A** (with members of the cast)
Vampire Diaries Panel* (with members of the cast)
Spike & Drusilla** (James Marsters and Juliet Landau)
Remote Visions: The Science and Prescience of Space Art
This is just a partial list. There will be book signings, the Art Show, all the vendors selling their treasures. Yay!!! See you again next week.

That looks like so much fun! Have a good time, I know you will!
Sounds wonderful!!!
