Lagertha is a character on the television show Vikings. She is a mother, wife, and shield-maiden; loving, loyal and strong. This is not the best likeness of actress, Katheryn Winnick, but I tried. I still think it’s a nice painting. It usually takes me several portraits before I can capture a likeness of anyone.

I hadn’t heard of Vikings, so didn’t know the actress, so nothing to base the picture on and I really love it!
It’s a brand new show here, on the History Channel. I love it, but it is quite realistic in the harshness of Viking life and their raids. But at the same time they show them as family and friends–they were people regardless of their violent ways.
I do think my portraits are getting better as I find my way in digital painting. Someone on deviantART said they did recognize her, so I didn’t do half bad!
